About Us

Welcome to Knitting Central!

Knitting Central was a dream of Cynthia's that became a reality in 2004 as a bricks and mortar store in Westport, CT. Shortly after, Chloe, a creative and talented knitter in her teens, joined the staff and worked along side Cynthia for many years through out college. Over the years a complimentary online business was established which today has become their main focus. They have continued sharing their passion for finding unique, scrumptious yarns, tools and techniques, and wonderful fashion forward designs.
Many of the designs on the website are created by Cynthia or Chloe and are exclusive to Knitting Central. We work very hard to find the perfect yarn for each garment, making sure it will provide the structure, stitch definition and wearability, which results in a high quality garment the design was intended for.
Cynthia Crescenzo  camera in hand, travels and photographs everything knitted, gathering inspiration for her designs. She has been involved in the knitting and fiber industry for many years.  Along the way, Cynthia has managed a local yarn shop in New York City, acted as a consultant on a startup shop and with industry vendors, and established her own LYS in Westport, CT.  Through her online store and blog, Cynthia shares her love of design and fashion with her readers. Her transitional pieces go from day to night - from lunch in the city to dinner in a cozy, country inn - it is knitwear that feels comfortable, natural and elegant, and right for any occasion.

Chloe Sloat has always had a passion for creating, whether it be a knitted garment, a ceramic vase, or a hand embroidered pillow case. She enjoys using her skills to design beautiful and functional clothing that can be worn in many seasons and knit many times in different fibers and gauges.

Jessica Sanfratello was a Marketing Major at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. As Knitting Central's "Community Manager", Jessica brings in fresh ideas, whether the project involves social media, knitting patterns or presentation creation. In a past position for ELLE Magazine, she learned the in's-and-out's of the fashion industry along with what goes on behind the scenes, studying trends, planning events, and assisting today's top names in the magazine industry. Jess brings all she has learned, in both school and her job experiences to help propel our brand forward.
