Top Down Icelandic

Knit a beautiful Icelandic-patterned sweater from the top down with Sally Ijams.  Learn how to knit with two or three colors at the same time, how to work a sweater from the top down, and how to read a chart. Students must know how to knit in the round. Portions of this sweater will be knit using 2 circular needles at the same time.

My First Lace Class

This workshop is designed to introduce knitters to the art of lace knitting. Students will create a sampler of lace stitches beginning with very basic lace and progressing to more complicated lace patterns. Students progress at their own speed adding lace knitting patterns to their sampler as desired.Lynn Wilson also teaches you how to “unknit”  your lace, which is one of the most valuable techniques one can learn to become a successful lace knitter. click here for photo

Have you ever wanted to crochet in the round and didn’t know where to begin (or end)?   In this class Pam Grushkin will teach the techniques involved in crocheting in the round by joining or by beginning with a spiral as well as how to increase and decrease.  You will be able to apply these new skills by crocheting a hat.   You must be able to chain, single crochet, and slip stitch. click here for photo

Jump Start your Holiday Knitting

Starting in July and continuing for the next four months our Knitting Central Teachers will be teaching a series of classes that will help you get a jump on your holiday handmade gifts. Each project will combine new techniques with great yarns. We've specifically chosen these projects so that you can knit each project multiple times before the holiday comes close. There will be one project a month, through November.  Each project will take only 1-3 skeins of yarn.  Sign up for however many classes you would like.  1-2 classes, $35 each; 3 or  more classes, receive 10% off the class price.

 

July: Make a pair of booties while learning short rows and the mattress stitch. click here for photo

August: Make a mixed media scarf that mixes knitting and crochet – snowflake scarf ~ drop stitch, crocheting snowflakes.  Picture to follow ~ design in progress.

September:  Hat with Ear Flaps ~ cable cast on, striping evenly, knitting in the round, decreases, and i-cords. click here for photo

October:  Cabled Fingerless Glove ~ learn cables.  Picture to follow ~ design in progress.

November:  Make a pair of miniature mittens that can be used as a Christmas ornament or made into a key fob.  Learn how to knit in the round on double pointed needles and shaping.
