Please join us in celebrating the Grand Opening as we officially transition through the "changing of the guard" from Knitting Central to Westport Yarns. Together, Cynthia Crescenzo (owner of Knitting Central), and Beth Schaefer (owner of Westport yarns) want to welcome you to this exciting event. We have lots of new and
exciting yarns and knitting tools and are looking forward to getting to know you and to working hard to continue the tradition of cutting edge items offered and events planned that you have come to expect at this location.

Our guest speaker
will be Shirley Paden, internationally recognized knitwear designer and teacher. Shirley has had a long history of involvement in the education program of Knitting Central and is excitedly looking forward to continuing that relationship with Westport yarns.

This event will also be a book signing for Shirley who will be discussing the design process as explained in her new book: Knitwear Design Workshop: A Comprehensive Guide to handknits.
The book is based on techniques successfully taught in her well known Design Classes and workshops. It walks the reader through
all the necessary steps involved in planning a garment with a perfect fit from the first thought through selecting the yarn, the pattern stitch and the garment shape. This book is a must
have "how to" guide for knitters of all levels who want to design garments and/or alter commercial knitting patterns with confidence. The book also features 4 new beautiful designs by Shirley that demonstrate the process.

Knitting Continues to Thrive in Westport - New Name, New Owner!

We are happy to let everyone know that as of today, Thursday, February 11th, Knitting Central located at 582 Post Road East will now be Westport Yarns owned by Beth Schaefer. Beth has been a member of our knitting community for many years. She is a great knitter and a successful business woman. I am confident she will take care of "my baby" and bring it to new heights.

Our entire staff that you love and respect will all stay on with the new shop. Please know that you can come in, knit and get the same expert service and knitting help that you have always received.

Beth and I have been very busy ordering a great collection of yarns to introduce to you. We should have quite a selection by the end of next week. Our educational program will continue and be as strong as ever. So, look forward to a new class schedule coming out very soon. As for Knitting Central - you can continue to shop with us online at www.knittingcentral.com as planned. I might be taking a bit of a breather, so please be patient as I curate a new collection for all of you. Both Beth and I are very excited about our new ventures.
